Experiment: Internal dialogue

As an expiring author, I try to follow the recommendation by more experienced indie authors out there. One recommendation that I took was to participate in author’s book review exchange. So I did an exchange with this young guy from the States the book that he reviewed was my Princess: Nuance of Love book. In a lengthy review (Was it 500? 700 words? Don’t you have other things to do?), he basically called it sucky, shallow and unrelatable to the average reader as my book is about a royalty and lacks of internal dialogue and emotions.

I basically wanted to tell him to take his review and insert it profoundly into his orifice of which has never been touched by the majestic rays of sunlight (Literally: Stick it up your A$$, buddy!). For the following reasons:

  • South East Asia DOES have monarchies (did you sleep during geography classes?)
  • You wrote a book about demons (NO! There is no scientific proof that they exist!)
  • I know that the written fiction industry has its standard guidelines, but hey, that’s the point of going indie. My words, my way!

So today I am going to attempt to write an emotion filled internal dialogue split into 200 words for each emotion to prove to myself that my works do have depth.

As always, drop me a message if you have any comments………

Smaradahana Chapter 2

“Batara Brahma, I can’t imagine why people at this day and age really take their time in finding their soul mate and settling down. How long since they have been reborn?” Batara Narada asked.

“Twenty three years.” Batara Brahma replied.

“Imagine that, I remember a few hundred years ago, at twenty three they were already married and planning the engagement for their first child.”  Batara Narada exhaled.

“Times have changed in the mortal world, life expectancy has increased, If people still married young, the world would be over populated faster.”

“Still, they’re twenty three and they still haven’t met each other again, they haven’t even began a relationship yet. And he even married another woman. We should intervene.”

“No. not yet!” Batara Brahma, raised his hand, “Let’s wait and see for a few more days.”

“Oh fine!” Batara Narada agree disgruntledly, “But on the first sign of problems, I’m swooping in.”

* * *

“Panji, you should move on with your life, if you keep living in depression like this, it wouldn’t be good for you!” Mrs. Dari said to her son, taking the glass of whiskey from his hand. “It has been five months already since Anggraeni died. It’s time for you to let her go.”

“Ma, how could you ask me to do that, I didn’t even get to see her body to bid her farewell.” Panji argued.

“Panji, you have to understand, we did that to protect you, she was in a traffic accident, her condition was very bad. Your mother and I made that decision so you could remember her as the wife who lived with you and not how she looked after the accident.” His father explained. “Think of how would Anggraeni feel, if she saw you like this. You’re drunk day in and day out, you shut yourself in your room all day, you don’t shower, you hardly eat and refuse to work. What will become of you? What will become of our company?”

“Is it the company you’re worried about?” He slurred, “If that’s the case then go and do what you want to do. I don’t care anymore!”

“Panji, we are going to go ahead and ask Mr. Dartono for his daughter’s hand in marriage, I’m sure once you meet her, you won’t regret. Besides, this girl she looks like Anggraeni, I’m sure she can take her place in your heart.”

Panji sniffed back his tears, “Nobody can take her place in my heart.”

* * *

“Have you gone senile old man?” Luna jumped up from her chair. “You’re going to marry me off as a replacement bride to some guy who lost his marbles over his dead wife, because I look like her?”

“Luna, this is not just some guy, this is the heir of Kediri Jaya Properties. ” He explained.

“So?” She shrugged.

“Luna, they’re under a lot of financial trouble, most companies want to pressure them to sell off their property at a very low price. But we, can offer them a debt solution plan, and why not? After you marry their only heir, we’ll be part of the family.”

“Pa, that’s a great plan!” She smirked, “I think you should go ahead and marry their son.”

“Luna, don’t be stubborn. You should have sympathy to your Papa, you’re my only daughter, my Princess, and my sunshine. Do this for me, okay, okay?” He coaxed.

“No! All my life you’ve always prohibited me from dating or seeing any boys, and now you want me to marry one who is in mourning and recently widowed.” She paused, “My answer is straight forward, no way Jose!”

“My Princess…..” Mr. Dartono puckered, “After your mother died six years ago, it has only been you and me against the world. I did everything imaginable for you, now why don’t you do this for me? And it’s not even for me, it’s for you. I want to make sure that you have a secure future after I leave this world. You know my uncles are hanging over my head, ready to take the company away from me. Marrying into the Erlangga family will make my dreams come true for you.”

“Don’t make me take extreme measures!” Mr. Dartono’s tone changed, “I can play the role as the evil stepmother, you know.”

“What are you going to do?” She looked at him with suspicion.

Mr. Dartono took out a set of keys from his pocket before running to the door, Luna dashed after him, but she was too late, he closed the door and locked it from the outside.

“Ha..ha…ha…..I bet you didn’t see that coming….” He laughed.

“Papa…Papa….” Luna shook the door by the knob, “Let me out of here. Do you hear me, old man?” She shouted.

“Luna, calm down. This is for your own good.” He shouted back.

Luna kicked the door in frustration, she looked for her cell phone to call for reinforcement, but she couldn’t find it anywhere.

“Oh, and by the way, I have your phone with me…” her father shouted from outside the room. “Now stay there calmly, your engagement party is in two days.”

“Old man, are you going to lock me in here without any food or anything to drink?” She said.

“Check on your desk, there’s some bread, milk, chocolate, fruits and canned meat. Make sure you don’t eat them all in one day.” He joked. “You have your computer, to entertain you.”

Luna’s face lightened up but dimmed again , “There’s no internet!”

“Do you really think that I would be dumb enough to leave your internet connected? You can watch TV.” He chuckled, “Oh, by the way, I’ll do you the favor of calling to your work and tell your boss that you’re sick.”

“You’re so mean….” She growled in frustration.

* * *

“Panji, look at you!,” His mother frowned seeing her son dressed in the suit but his shoulder long hair was tied in a pony tale and his face was still covered with facial hair.. “If you put a little effort in grooming yourself, I bet when Chandra, the daughter of Mr. Dartono sees you, she’ll fall in love at first sight.”

“Yeah, whatever…” He muffled.

“Come on, let’s go,” Mr. Erlangga said sighing at the site of his son. “Luckily it’s fashionable for young people today to look like vagabonds.”

They entered the car together, Panji sat at the front passenger seat while his parents at the back. It didn’t take them long to reach the Dartono’s house. They could see that some of the guests had already arrived. The family got down from the car and entered the house together.

Mr. Dartono rushed out to greet them, at the door, “Welcome…welcome…” He said.

“Mr. Dartono, I’m happy that we’re finally going to tie the family bond between us,” Mr. Erlangga said.

Panji was restless, he didn’t want to be there, all he wanted do was to go home and curl in his bed, remembering Anggraeni his late wife. The beloved wife that was taken away from him too soon.

“Is this Panji?” Mr. Dartono asked. “Let me introduce you to my little Princess, the ladies from the salon are still getting her ready. She’ll be down in a few minutes.”

“Mr. Dartono….Mr. Dartono, a problem, a big problem….” One of the ladies ran down the stairs and ran to the door towards them.

“What’s all the ruckus?” Mr. Dartono yelled.

Panji took this opportunity to sneak away from them quietly. He slid himself backward against the wall, making sure that his parents didn’t notice him. He continues to trace the wall until he couldn’t see them anymore. When he was sure that they couldn’t see him, he took off his jacket and tie and tossed it into the bush. He pulled his shirt out of his pants then ran towards the main gate and out on the street.

* * *

“Miss Chandra, Miss Chandra, she told us that she needed to go to the toilet, but she’s not there, we can’t find her anywhere.” The woman gasped.

“Where is that naughty girl?” Mr. Dartono mumbled, he looked at Mr. Erlangga, “I’m sorry, I have to find my daughter, she must be here…”

Mr. Dartono looked at the drive way with his mouth open, there in front of him his daughter, still in her engagement gown drove by on an ivory colored Vespa. She was wearing an open face helmet and motorbike goggles, but he could still recognize her.

“Bye…bye…Papa….,” She shouted while throwing one arm in the air and waving her hand at him, “Send me a postcard from your honeymoon…..”

“Luna…..” He yelled in anger. “Both hands on the steering handle!”

* * *

Luna laughed out loud. She was confident that she could escape from this tight fix, and she succeeded. She knew that her father would forgive her in no time. The most important thing to do now is to go to her favorite place to crash for the time being. When she would have fall outs with her father, she would go to her best friend’s apartment. Luckily Nuri lives alone, her father wouldn’t guess to call there and ask for her.

She drove while making her plans, without knowing it a man jay walked in front of her, she slammed the the steer handle to the right to avoid him, making her fall sideways, luckily she was able to put down her leg to support herself and her Vespa.

“Hey!” She yelled at him “Are you stupid or what?”

Panji looked up starring at her, “For some strange reason her with presence makes me feel a strange feeling of familiarity.” He mumbled to himself as he observed her carefully, “She is in an elegant and expensive party gown, but she was driving a Vespa with an open face helmet and goggles. Not a harmonic match.”

“Hey, didn’t you hear me?” She shouted again, “You crossed the street abusively without looking….” She closed her mouth, getting off her Vespa, and putting it on the stand, she approached him carefully. “Did I hit you? Do you have a concussion?” She waved her hand in front of his face.

She looked at the scruffy looking man in front of her, something inside made her feel sorry for him. She observed his clothes, it looked nice, “Some good Samaritan must have donated it to him,”She thought to herself.

“Do…you….need….to….go…to…the…..hospital….” She shouted slowly, thinking that maybe he had hearing problems for living too long in the streets.

“I’m fine!” Panji said to her. “I was surprised that’s all.”

“Ah….that’s good. Okay then, if you’re alright, I’ll take my leave now.” She said walking back to her Vespa.

“Hey, wait.” He called her, “Can you give me a ride?”

“Huh?” She looked at him with distrust.

“I won’t harm you! I promise, I just need a ride back to my friend’s house. Here, I’ll pay you.” He said while reaching for his wallet.

“No..no..no…its alright. Okay, I’ll give you a ride, but you drive, that way I can be sure that you won’t try anything funny,” She said.

Panji laughed at her heart warming behavior, “Fine.”

Panji sat on the Vespa, turned the key and started in, “Hop on!” He said to her.

She nodded and saddled behind him.

“Let’s roll!” Panji exclaimed, surprisingly his voice shows how his heart felt lighter.

* * *

“Your friend lives in this area?” She asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, why?” He asked back

“Wow, you have friends with money…” She praised.

He smiled widely, “Thank you for the ride, would you be okay travelling all alone at this hour by scooter?”

“Actually, I was headed to this same building.” She said.

“Oh really?” Panji opened his eyes wide.

“My friend lives on the fifth floor in tower one.” She explained.

“Oh…mine lives on the fifth floor also but  in tower two.” He said in amazement.

“Cool, I’ll be seeing you around then.” She waved as she pushed her Vespa into the parking space.

* * *

Nuri opened the door. “You need a place to crash again, huh? What is it this time?” She asked not surprised.

“My father tried to make me marry this man.” Luna explained curtly.

“Well, was he that ugly that you ran out in your party gown?”

“I don’t know what he looked like, I didn’t bother sticking around to find out.” She replied.

“You should move in permanently. You pay part of the rent, and have a closet full of clothes here anyway, not to mention your toiletries and shoes.” Nuri said pursing her lips.

“I don’t feel comfortable leaving the old man alone.” Luna replied while taking off her jacket.

“Hmm….Hey you’re dress beautifully like that, but why are you still wearing that childish little silver necklace?” Nuri asked.

“This necklace? I don’t know why I’m still wearing it, but I just can’t bring myself to take it off. This is my good luck charm.”

“A good luck charm from you childhood friend who totally forgot about you?”

Luna smiled, “This was the first present I ever got. So I believe that it would bring me good luck.”

* * *

“Who are you and what did you do to my cousin?” Roni asked when he saw the man with Panji’s voice at the door.

“Stop fulling around,” Panji replied while walking in.

“Hey, I’m glad you finally decided to go out of your house after…after what happened to Anggraeni. I mean I know that I never knew your wife, because I haven’t had the chance to visit you after returning from the Netherlands, but I know you must love her a lot to be in such pain.”

Panji sighed sadly “I had to leave my house. My parents were about to make me get engaged today. I can’t do that to my wife, I can’t betray her.”

“She’s gone, my friend.” Roni held his shoulder.

“Not for me. Not in here.” He pointed to his heart.

Roni exhaled in sympathy, “Look, I let you stay here, but I’m not going to take it if you’re going to lay around the house mopping and drowning in your sorrow.  If you want to stay here, you should work in my company, can you do that?”

Panji nodded, “Okay, I’ll work with you, I have nothing to loose anyway. What do you want me to do? Make coffee and scrub the floor?”

“You’ll do what you’re good at doing, marketing. You’re going to be my new Marketing Manager.”

“You’ll start tomorrow. make sure you shave and cut your hair.”

* * *

“I meant shave your beard and cut your hair, not shave your hair off!” Roni gritted as they walked into the parking space of the office.

“It was an accident,” Panji grinned, “I tried to cut it myself and I went overboard.”

Roni sighed, “Let me show you to your office, before we introduce you to all the staff, we’ll have IT set you up with a laptop and smartphone.” They walked to an office, Roni gestured him to enter. “Wait here, IT will arrive in a few minutes, I’m going to my office to reply to some emails.”

“Ah okay…” Panji nodded. He sat at his new desk, opening all the drawers to see if there was anything that the previous occupant left behind. It was clean.

He spun his chair to look out the big window that was behind him, he could see the view of the other buildings across the street.

“Good morning…” A familiar cheerful voice rang from the door. Panji recognized it as the voice of the girl who had given him the ride last night. He quickly turned his chair around. His eyes opened wide as he saw her face, “Anggraeni,” He whispered.

“Hi, I’m from IT,” She said, “I’m here to set up your laptop, logins and email.”

He couldn’t say a word, he just nodded as she walked over to his desk cheerfully, she put the laptop on his desk and opened it, putting on the adapter and plugging it on the wall. She stood across him leaning against the desk as she typed on the laptop’s keyboard.

Panji froze when from the corner of his eyes he caught sight of a familiar shiny object hanging down her neck, “Luna……?” He said hesitantly almost whispering.

She looked up with a big smile, “Huh, I must be so famous that you heard of my name before I introduced myself.”

Smaradahana: Prologue Part 2

“Why are you here?” Dewa Kamajaya asked when he saw his wife hiding amongst the bushes.

“My husband, that was Batara Guru, who you just shot with your arrow. Why did you do that? If he finds out he would never forgive you…” She cried.

“Ratih, my wife. I had to do it, for the good of all Jonggringsalaka. The demon army has already cracked our defense system. This was my obligation to our people and to our kind.” He replied.

“And what about me? What about your obligations to me as your wife?”

“We should go back,” He sighed in dismay.

“What’s that sound?” She jumped up.

There was a large crashing sound and the mountain trembled, Dewa Kamajaya signed for his wife to be quiet as he slowly crept to check out the situation. Dewi Kamaratih followed closely behind him, holding on firmly to his  arm. They slowly moved forward amongst the tree approaching the source of the loud noise. Dewa Kamajaya was struck with awe when he saw the vision before him. A giant was walking, in his steps the trees tumbled and crashed to the ground. Dewa Kamajaya looked up to observe him, he could see the giant large fangs reaching under his chin. His huge arms swept from left to right to remove the trees from in front of him.

“It’s Nilarudraka, the Demon King…” He whispered to his wife. “He must have put his troops as a decoy, so that the heavenly army would concentrate their men at the Southern Wall, while he breaches Jonggringsalaka from Mount Mahameru.”

“What should we do?” She gasped.

“Neither you or I have enough power to face him, we must hurry back to Indraloka to report this situation to Batara Indra.” He reasoned, “Come on, let’s retreat, be careful not to make any noise.”

They both walked slowly trying to hide themselves under the protective shades of the bushes. Dewi Kamaratih rushed behind him, when she accidently stepped on a branch provoking a loud cracking noise.

Nilarudraka stopped when he heard the sound, he looked to his surrounding, “Come out!” He boomed, “I know you’re there!”

Dewa Kamajaya ducked under a large branch, covering his wife’s head with his body.

“You should go, quickly and inform the High Gods,” She whispered.

“But what about you?” He protested.

“I cannot travel as fast as you, so I will only slow you down. I’ll distract him from you so you can escape.”She said firmly.

“But what if he catches you?” He asked worriedly.

“Don’t worry about me, I’ll divert his attention, and once I’ve considered that you’ve gained a good distance, I’ll follow.” She paused, “As you said, this is for our people and our kind.”

He sighed, he caressed her cheeks, “Be careful…” He whispered.

“You be careful too…”

He kissed her lips, before jumping back and taking flight.

Dewi Kamaratih sat on the ground in a lotus position, she recited mantra. A blue light shone from her body transcended into the air and shot down before Nilarudraka’s feet.

“Ha…ha…ha….” He laughed, “Did the rulers of heaven decide to send a beautiful angel to appease me, so I won’t attack?

“You ugly abomination!” She shouted, “We heavenly beings are not afraid of you…”

“Harsh words coming out of that beautiful mouth….” His voice made the ground shake, “I like that, I think I will enjoy your beauty before I move onto conquer Jonggringsalaka. You can chose to be submissive and surrender yourself to me, or I can take you by force.”

“Only if you can catch me…” She dared him before running towards the direction away from Indraloka.

‘Ha…ha…ha…” Nilarudraka laughed again, “I’m going to enjoy ripping your clothes off and touching your white silky skin. I’ll give you time to change your mind, come here and give yourself to me, and I’ll make you my queen.”

Dewi Kamaratih continued running away, she jumped sideways and disappeared under the trees.”

Nilarudraka became upset. He chased after her, she was going to be his entertainment, and he wasn’t going to let her escape. He swept his arms to knock the trees out off their roots, to clear his way. She tried to hide from him, but he could see the edge of her waist cloth flowing in the air. He laughed at her silliness and hurried after her.

Dewi Kamaratih opened her eyes and smiled. She stood up from her sitting position and quickly flew towards Indraloka, she knew that it won’t be long before the Demon King realizes that what he was chasing  was only an astral projection of her. And when he does, he’ll be twice as angry. But she was sure that she would be safe by the time he catches up to her decoy because she was flying and he was running while knocking down trees.

* * *

Batara Guru reached the door of his residence. He opened the door and entered. His heart was beating profusely for some strange reason.

“My husband?”Batari Parwati’s eyes shined, “You’re home….”

“Come….” He took her hand and led her to the divan, “It’s been too long…..”

He lifted my chin with his hand, pressing his lips against hers, he sucked her lips gently. Her heart began to jump as if it came alive beating out of control pumping the heated blood throughout her body. His tongue pried open her mouth, pushing, sensing, and exploring. She responded by greeting him with hers, welcoming him in complete submission.

He groaned holding back his eagerness he wet kissed her neck, biting gently and licking her skin. She quivered overwhelmed by sensation that had been deprived from her for a long time. He cupped her breast and began kneading it gently, she couldn’t help but moan as she yearned the feeling that invaded her senses. He slowly loosened the fabric that covered her body exposing her bare chest to the air. He lowered his head kissing her bosom then putting her nipple into his mouth and slowly sucking it. She felt a tingle at the excitement he awoke in her.

She couldn’t help but sigh as his tongue circled her left nipple, caressing it then pulling it softly with his mouth. He pushed her down gently to the divan, standing only a few inches away from her, he began to take off his clothing. The sight of his arousal made her blush but her longing for him was too strong. He crawled slowly on the bed, his strong hands slowly grasping her body. She could hear him groan as he pushed himself, becoming one with her, melting away the centuries of separation, distance, and isolation.

* * *

“Batara Guru, we are glad to see you finally back here in Indraloka,” Batara Indra took his arm. “Please, sit, there is something we need to consult you about.”

Batara Guru took his seat as his wife sat on the lower chair by his side, he looked at the other Gods surrounding him, ready to listen.

“During the time you were meditating at Mount Mahameru the Demon Army attacked, lead by Nilarudraka the Demon King. As of today they have succeeded in breaking the protective wall, our army is holding them back as much as we can, but we don’t know how long we can hold them back, they have more soldiers than us.”

Batara Guru nodded his head while rubbing his chin, “Hm..that is a dire situation…” He muttered.

“Batara Guru, there is a way to defeat the demon king…” Batara Brahma said carefully, “According to the prophecy, the child born of you and Batari Parwati can destroy him.”

Batara Guru nodded, “I have consummated my marriage with her, today. As my seed is in her womb, I will transfer my force to her so that the fetus will grow and develop fast.”

* * *

“Hyang Narada….Batara Narada…” Dewa Kamajaya called out to the stout old man.

“Dewa Kamajaya, why are you out of breath?” He asked.

Dewa Kamajaya dropped to the ground, clasping his hands in front of his chest and saluting the higher God, “I report that I have just returned from Mount Mahameru, there was a ruckus there, and when my wife and I went to check it out, we found that the Demon King Nilarudraka had stolen inside Jonggringsalaka. She stayed behind to distract him, so I can warn the rulers of heaven about this situation.”

“My word, the two of you have done such a great deed to save us. We are forever indebted to you.” He exclaimed, “Come, we must go quickly to the Palace of the High Gods, so you can report this situation.”

Dewa Kamajaya rushed behind Batara Narada, they headed to the Palace, the guards recognized the right-hand man of Batara Guru and let him in immediately.

‘Trouble…trouble…” Batara Narada cried out as he reached the hall.

Batara Guru was sitting behind his wife, his hands pressed against her back, there was a red light radiating from his palm. Batari Parwati’,s face was soaked in sweat from the heat that was flowing into her body. Dewa Kamajaya could see that Her stomach seem to be bulging as if she was a few months pregnant, unlike the way she was when he saw her earlier today.

“There is trouble in Jonggringsalaka…” Batara Narada repeated.

The Rulers of heaven turned their heads to look at him.

“Dewa Kamajaya has reported that he saw Nilarudraka at Mount Mahameru a few moments ago, he has sneaked into our territory and he is creating havoc as we speak…”

“Is this true my son?” Batara Brahma asked.

“It is, father,” Dewa Kamajaya replied.

Batara Guru opened his eyes, “At Mount Mahameru?” He repeated, he looked at Dewa Kamajaya sharply, then his brows began to crinkle. “It was you!” He barked, “I saw that plumeria flower when I was awakened from my meditation. You were the one who did it. You shot me with your pancawisesa arrow to incite sexual passion and desire in my heart. How dare you a lesser God play tricks on me, The Supreme Teacher?”

“Forgive me, my divine lord,” Dewa Kamajaya dropped to the ground, “I did it so you would procreate with your divine wife, to bear the champion who can save us from Nilarudraka…”

Batara Guru couldn’t hear what Dewa Kamajaya was saying, he was in rage, he felt that he had been humiliated and played with by a lesser God. His form began to change, he grew bigger, his other arms came out of his body. He stood tall above the other Gods, his face red with anger. Suddenly his third eye, which was always closed began to open. From it’s pupil a red light came charging out towards Dewa Kamajaya.

Dewa Kamajaya screamed as his body combusted, his clothes and skin began to catch fire and burn, the floor that surrounded him also flamed up.

“My husband…” Dewi Kamaratih who had succeeded in escaping from Nilarudraka and had gain permission to enter the Palace screamed out as she saw her husband bursting into a blaze. His screams of pain shattered her heart, she could see his body jerking as his life left it.

“No…..I can never live without you, wait for me…” She cried and screamed in sorrow, jumping into the fire after him, she held his scorched dead body as the flames began to consume her skin and take her life away.

“Batara Guru, he was only doing my bidding. If you have to punish someone, it should be me. It was I who ordered him to shoot his arrow at you.” Batara Indra said sorrowfully.

“My husband, please have mercy…” Batari Parwati pleaded her huge belly made it difficult for her to kneel, “Please restore their lives, they were just trying to save us from the Demons.”

Batara guru had already calmed down. His third eye had closed again, and he was in his normal form, he took a deep breath and said, “I will not restore them to life. Let it be known that whoever dares to disturb my meditation again  will be severely punished. I do recognize Dewa Kamajaya’s heroism to Jonggringsalaka and his noble efforts to protect the heavenly plains. I also recognize his wife’s loyalty and love towards him. For his merit, I will grant him an opportunity to repent for his sins and be reborn in the realm of man and be reunited with his wife. But for his trickery, he will have to pay and since he is the God of Love, he will have to suffer the perils of love in every incarnation, until the thousandth rebirth.”

The other Gods bowed their heads and remained silent not daring to upset him again.

“We should get back to our problem…..” He said taking place behind his wife and continuing to flow his force to her.

Excerpt from Chapter 1

Los Angeles, California 2004 CE

“Hey Luna, the principle is looking for you,” Justin said as he nudged her on the back.

“Stop joking around, Justin!” Luna didn’t want to take her eyes off the computer, she was too busy typing in codes to try and break the lunch room administrator’s password. All the kids were tired of drinking the same lousy juice every week, so she decided to hack the menu and make a little change to it.

“I’m serious, there’s this new kid who just transferred in, he’s a foreigner he comes from your country and he doesn’t speak English. The Principle wants you to be his buddy until he adapts,” Justin explained.

“What? Now you see any old Asian person and you assume that he’s from my country, they have a name for that, you know. Racist!” She sassed.

“Stop being so prickly. He’s from Indonesia. That’s where you’re from, isn’t it?” Justin refuted.

Luna raised her head and looked at him, “Wow, you finally grew a brain…”

“Oh, shut up and get going!” He growled.

To be continued………

Ricochet Part 17

“Ahmed, don’t leave the country, okay?” Princess Latifa cried, “Are you going to leave your mother alone again?”

“Ma, it’s only an hour and a half by plane, besides, don’t you have another son and grandchildren there? I don’t see why you can’t hop on a plane once in a while to visit me and my brother.” Ahmed replied.

“Ahmed, why do you insist in rejecting Ratna? If you would only accept your engagement none of this would happen. What does that woman have that Ratna doesn’t? Look, Ratna is beautiful, she’s educated, well mannered, and if you get to know her, you can see that she has a great personality.” She tried to convince her son.

“Mama, please stop, okay? Enough already! I told you many times that I don’t like her, but you never understood. If you didn’t pull a trick on me and announce the engagement at your party. Ratna wouldn’t be that disappointed, and Mr. Sumantri wouldn’t dare to threaten me with my job. ” Ahmed exhaled, “Besides, I think it’s time for me to step away from under my father’s shadow and try to make it on my own. I’m tired that you and Papa treat me like an incompetent person, and that I would never achieve anything by myself.”

“This is all because of her, isn’t it? She put all these ideas in your head.” She accused.

“Why? Because I can’t think for myself?” His voice was ironic. “Is that how you see me?”

“Ahmed….” her voice was genuinely sad.

“Here is the updated report. Also this folder contains the opened projects that we have, and the status of each.” Ahmed explained to his father.

Mr. Omar looked through the folder, “very good.” He praised.

“Thank you, Pa.” Ahmed

“Ahmed, I want you to know, that I’ve been very hard on you all this time, because I want you to be a man who will make use of all his potentials. You’re my only son, it’s common that children from well off family slack off, and become irresponsible, depending themselves on their parents’ wealth. Maybe I’ve never told you this, but I am very proud of you.”

Ahmed looked at him in disbelief, his father’s tone was gentle and loving. “Thank you.”

“I’m sure you will have success and good luck in the future. You have the ability and presence to achieve what you set your mind to,” He got up from his chair and hugged his son warmly.

“He kicked you out? Your father?” Ronald didn’t believe her. “But why?”

“Hey, this is a girl’s heart to heart talk here, sweetheart. No boys allowed.” Winnie gave him the evil eye.

“Huh! I think you’re father got it all wrong! I mean I have daughters of my own, if some guy was circling around them, I would lock them in the house and throw away the key. Kicking her out of the house is like shouting, “Here, take my daughter for free!”, right?” Dodi gave his opinion.

“Mr. Dodi…. this is supposed to be between us girls!” Winnie protested again.

“Maybe you’re adopted.” Ronald said again.

Tia looked at him strangely, “Thanks for the encouragement, guys.”

“But seriously, from one dad to another, yours did not make the right decision, and what’s wrong with Mr. Ahmed? He’s rich, successful, handsome, and kind.” Dodi praised, “Besides, everybody in the company knows that the two of you have been flirting with each other for the past three years. That’s why when Madame Al Rashid announced that he was engaged with Miss Ratna we were all surprised.”

“What do you mean we have been flirting with each other for three years?” Tia asked. “Before he started dating me a few months ago, he was dating Daniyati, the previous HR Manager.”

“Yeah right….” Winnie laughed.

“No, I’m serious, he used to date Daniyati, he told me that they went out for three years…”

“Stop trying to make up stupid excuses to deny it. We already know anyway…. ” Winnie said, “The whole company has been whispering about it ever since you started working here.”

“Guys….” Tia paused when she heard her phone ring, “It’s my aunt, I need to take this call…”

Ricochet Part 14

“I love this.” Ahmed looked at her from the kitchen counter.

“Love what?” She asked.

“This, you here in my apartment, waking up together, having breakfast together, it’s nice.”

Tia dried her hands with a dish towel, “It is, it is nice.”

“We should get going.” Ahmed looked at his watch, “Come on.”

“Oh, and thanks for getting my suite laundered, I didn’t know you had it, I always thought I lost it.”

“I thought it would come in handy to have your work clothes here.” He grabbed her and hugged her by the waist, “Thank you!”

“For what?” she asked.

He whispered in her ear.

“Oh my goodness…..” She blushed, slapping him on the arm.

“You could drop me off at the usual place.” Tia chirped as the reached the intersection near the building.

“Why would I want to do that for?” Ahmed creased his brow.

“Your mother or Ratna might see us together.”

“Let them!” Ahmed replied calmly, “We’re not doing anything wrong, so why do we have to sneak around?”

“Okay, I understand that, but I don’t want your mother to hate me even more. I think if we want to be together, we should make her accept me, don’t you think?” She reasoned.

“That would take a miracle,” Ahmed answered flatly.

“Well, thanks for the optimism.” Tia huffed.

“I’m being realistic. Let’s say that money and wealth won’t be a problem, but your family ties will be. She hates your aunt to death. If she could have a bulls eye board with your aunt’s photo on it, she would.”
